My name is Jemma Gregson from Pawtraits By Jemma. I am a pet and wildlife portrait artist based in Leicestershire, in the UK. I have three beautiful children (9 year old girl, 4 year old boy and 6 month baby boy).
I discovered coloured pencils in 2018 when I had my son, as it was a nice way to relax and unwind and shift some of that anxiety that we all get from time to time, especially once you have had a baby. I began by drawing pet portraits for family and friends, but soon started taking on commissions and producing pet portraits for clients all over the UK.
I started using coloured pencils and pastels in my pet portraits and mainly used Faber Castell Polychromos and Caran Dache Luminance pencils to create my artwork as both these types of pencil are extremely beautiful to work with and give my art that realism quality. Recently I mainly used soft pastels and pastel pencils to create my work as I love the softness it brings to my work and the ability to create really deep, rich colours which have a beautiful matt quality to them. I now mainly use Faber Castell Pitt Pastel Pencils and Pan Pastels to create my pet portraits and use Claire Fontaine Pastelmat Paper
